Methane, when released into the air, becomes a potent greenhouse gas, with up to 80 times the warming effect of CO<sub>2<\/sub>.<\/p>\n<p>We produce biomethane by capturing methane emissions from organic sources (such as waste from food and agriculture) to generate biogas, a gas that contains mostly methane and CO2. Besides, biogas can only be used near where it\u2019s produced, making it generally unsuitable for broader applications. <\/p>\n<p>Instead, biogas can be upgraded to produce biomethane, which can be used directly to replace fossil natural gas.
